Collaborative Counselling - Couples, Individual,Group Workshops

Your Personality is the Key to Your Perspective

We live in a fast-paced world full of outward influences that constantly send messages of what we "should" and "should not" be doing. We are bombarded through media, culture, social trends, family or community expectations and most of all, our past experiences of  who we "should" be.

At some point, we are faced with the challenge of understanding what influences have been guiding our choices, intentionally or unintentionally. One of the most important decisions you will make in your life is how to harness those influences and embrace how they uniquely mold your personality.

Discovering YOU is the First Step Towards a New Life

You don’t need a “do over” in life.

You are where you are for a reason, and all the greatness of your life is due to your natural talents and abilities. But the challenges and obstacles in your life may be a result of the areas that lack balance, insight, attention or growth.
Getting to the root of your personality and influences, and uncovering how past events influence present day living, is a major means of igniting personal development and advancement. Having the awareness and ability to harness your best personality traits is an essential means of creating change in other areas where you have felt frustrated, overwhelmed, flat or confused.

It is you who has the power to change your life.

As you shift with new awareness, using new and practical tools, you will find that the process invites incredible opportunities to be in the moment, to enjoy life AS YOU HAVE IT, while at the same time creating shifts in other areas of your life that you desire to evolve.

Breaking Free of Stuck-ness, Anxiety, and Automation

We often find ourselves in situations that present us with a barrier or challenge, and we continue behaviours we can’t quite break free from. Our fear of public speaking, fear of conflict, fear of intimacy, or an inability to take risks and grow as a person can trigger anxiety and discomfort, which can lead to undesirable behaviours such as: drinking, spending, controlling others, or people pleasing.

Is it any surprise we wake up to realize that we are not feeling truly happy or alive in all areas of our life?

The spark is gone and in its place is the burden of responsibility. Our self-audit reveals that our relationship may have lost its zest, and a routine life has us most days feeling as if we are living on auto-pilot, tired and worn down. We find ourselves wondering if that next job promotion, house, conquest will help fill that gap.
From this place of apathy or stuck-ness, we can feel there is more work than we have time or energy for. Often this can present as:

·      Burn out
·      Anger (expressed or leaking out)
·      Lost passion
·      Control / Anxiety
·      Disordered Eating
·      Powerlessness
·      Relationship angst, Conflict or Staleness

A powerful quote from Brene Brown that speaks volumes for where I strive to be and guide my clients:
"Show me a woman who can hold space for a man in real fear and vulnerability, and I'll show you a woman who's learned to embrace her own vulnerability and who doesn't derive her power or status from that man.  Show me a man who can sit with a woman in real fear and vulnerability and just hear her struggle without trying to fix it or give advice, and I'll show you a man who's comfortable with his own vulnerability and doesn't derive his power from being Oz, the all-knowing and all-powerful".
